Monkeys and Beaches for Elizabeth

As most of the team returned home yesterday, Katy headed to the Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific Coast for a little R & R. It's a rain forest full of incredible beaches and wildlife. Here's a glimpse of what I've seen so far:

Entire families of Spider Monkeys fly through the canopies.

The sloths are a bit harder to spot, due to their lack of movement, but I still caught a couple.

Vamos a la playa!!
As I sat on the beach reading, I noticed several flashes from cameras aimed in my direction. I looked up from my book to see a raccoon about 5 feet from me. It didn't appear sick, it was just out looking for food, but I couldn't  help but laugh at the oddity of a raccoon visiting me on a beach.

A 10 ft snake was hanging out by the trail

Incredible flowers were everywhere!!

Around the UBL

Our Final Day...

While the rain kept a lot of the children away, we still had about 15 kids at the community center church for children in the barrio La Isla. We sang 'Father Abraham' in Spanish, with hand motions and all (some things are universal).

Pastor Huberto, reading the story of David and Goliath to the children.

Coloring sheets of David and Goliath. Maria and Pamela are VERY intent on doing a good job!

Other children are more concerned with snack time.

Flora and Fauna

In the center of the UBL is a clump of bamboo trees. The center of the bamboo has been hollowed out to create a kind of secluded prayer cave.

 Bananas!

Resident cat, "Mischo"

Mari the Mariposa, was with us for an entire day doing construction.

A regular sight during the rain.

Even dogs love Jesus... or at least the cool floor in Jesus' church in Orosi Valley.

Techni-colored tree in Orosi Valley. Green, brown, orange, and yellow bark.

Becky's dog, Buster, loves to be loved!

Our welcome bouquet, hand picked by Dona Emma.

 Hydrangea bushes in abundance!
